NATIVE MAN BURNS FLAG AT PLAZA, ARRESTED

The day after his birthday, wearing an American flag, "Jason" climbed the statue at the Plaza in downtown Ashland this morning, tied the flag around the rifle-bearing statue's boot, and with calls for working Americans to stop paying taxes and funding wars, ignited the stars and stripes.

Ashland City Police officers arrived, Jason claimed responsibility for burning the American flag, and was placed in handcuffs, while Old Glory continued to smolder.

A passer by took photographs, and others gathered to witness the scene.

A police report of the incident should be forthcoming.

"This is for the one million dead Iraqis," Jason said.

Jason had planned to return in the afternoon and burn another flag.

"You should move to a different country," said a witness, who was giving his personal information to one of the police officers.

"I'm a Native Ameican," Jason replied. "YOU should move to another country."

Today being Labor Day, all of Ashland is decorated with American flags.

Stay tuned.
